District Mission Statement:

The teachers, administrators, and staff of the Los Angeles Unified School District believe in the equal worth and dignity of all students and are committed to educate all students to their maximum potential.
 
School Vision and Mission:

Calvert Street School will be recognized as a student centered institution, focusing on excellence, producing students who are life-long learners, literate, culturally sensitive, morally responsible, and prepared to be leaders of the future.

Calvert Street School provides a place where parents, staff, and students share in the responsibility of a learning environment of trust and mutual respect. All stakeholders will effectively communicate, collaborate, and support the high academic and behavior standards to ensure that all students achieve their greatest moral, social, and academic potential to become productive, thinking members of society.

School Profile Description:

Calvert Street School is a small Kindergarten through fifth grade school in a quiet community in the West San Fernando Valley. Calvert enjoys a small school environment with about half of the school population coming from the surrounding Woodland Hills neighborhood. Our campus also houses a State Preschool Program with morning and afternoon classes. Calvert has an active PTA and a small group of parents who are intensely involved in trying to improve our school’s physical environment. Calvert staff and parents have written grants to beautify the school and green the campus. Calvert has a native plant area at the front of the school and is in the process of creating a native plant butterfly and vegetable garden through a grant and a partnership with West Valley Occupational Center. Calvert also has a beautiful rose garden which is maintained with the help of the West Valley Garden Club and fifth grade students.

Calvert Street Elementary School is made up of a diverse community socially, geographically, culturally, economically and educationally.
